US and Hong Kong Employment Visas and Permanent Resident status
The firm represents corporate clients in obtaining US or Hong Kong employment visas or permanent resident status for its key managers, executives and its professional staff as well as individual clients requiring such status. We also assist persons who have ordinarily resided in Hong Kong for seven continuous years in applications for the right of abode.
Investors and Entrepreneurs
The firm represents investors and entrepreneurs in the acquisition of US permanent residency based on investments in qualified business enterprises in the US or treaty investor or treaty trader nonimmigrant visas for nationals of countries which have treaties with the US who invest or engage in substantial trade there. We also assist investors in obtaining resident status in Hong Kong through the Employment (investment) visa category as well as through the Capital Investment Entrant Scheme. As PRC nationals are not eligible to participate in the Capital Investment Entrant Scheme unless they have permanent resident status in a foreign country, the firm also assists such clients in obtaining permanent residency in a third jurisdiction in order to establish eligibility for entry to Hong Kong under the Capital Investment Scheme.
US Re-entry Permits and Acquisition of US Citizenship
The firm advises on the immigration rules which US lawful permanent residents must comply with in order to retain and maintain their legal status and help clients to apply for reentry permits as a protective measure so that their prolonged absence from the US will not jeopardize their legal status. We also assist spouses of US citizens working for US firms overseas in obtaining expedited naturalization without having to fulfill US physical presence requirements and in preparing and filing applications for US citizenship for children of US citizens born or adopted abroad who do not automatically qualify for US citizenship at birth.
Expatriation and Abandonment of Lawful Permanent Resident Status
The firm counsels and represents US citizens who wish to renounce their nationality before the US Consulate or who wish to abandon their lawful permanent resident status with the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) to ensure they fully understand their rights and obligations and the legal consequences of their action before proceeding with the process.
